1. Extract the 3 files (OEMSETUP.INF, SFVMR.SYS and SFVMR.DLL) from this zip archive to a floppy or hard disk, noting the location.
2. Click on the Start button, followed by the Settings option, and the Control Panel option.
3. Double-click on the Add New Hardware icon in the Control Panel window. The Add New Hardware Wizard displays.
4. Click the Next button.
5. The Add/Remove Hardware Wizard asks if you to Choose a Harkware Task. Leave the default choice of Add/Troubleshoot a device.
6. Click the Next button.
7. The Add New Hardware Wizard will begin a search for Plug and Play devices and then present you a list of Devices to add. Select "Add a New Device".
8. Click the Next button.
9. The next window asks "Do you want Windows to search for your new hardware?" Select the radio button next to "No, I want to select the hardware from a list"
10. Click the Next button.
11. The next window allows you to select the type of hardware you want to install. Click on the Sound, video, and game controllers option.
12. Click the Next button.
13. The next window allows you to select the Manufacturer and model for your hardware. Click the Have Disk... button.
14. Browse to the location of Oemsetup.inf, either floppy disk or other location. Select Oemsetup.inf and click the Open button.
15. This choice will appear in the Install From Disk window under Copy Manufacturer's files from. Click the OK button.
16. You may see a warning notice "Digital Signature Not Found". Click the Yes button.
17. In the Models list, click on the Sonic Foundry Virtual MIDI Router, and click the Next button.
18. Sonic Foundry Virtual MIDI Router (x86) will be displayed in the next window. Click the Next button.
19. You will see a warning notice "Digital Signature Not Found". Click the Yes button.
20. Windows will then copy the files.
21. After the files are copied, you will be asked to select between 1 to 4 Virtual MIDI ports. Select the number of prefer and then click OK.
22. You would then click finish on the Add/Remove Hardware Wizard.
23. Restart Windows. When Windows restarts, all programs that support MIDI can use the Virtual MIDI Router.
